  1. You had the accident, the claim is against you. The name of the primary policy holder doesn't matter, it is the name of the claimant that is important, you.

Your bike policy probably has a clause that says you must disclose any accidents, motoring convictions and any medical conditions that might affect your driving. Failure to disclose may mean you are no longer insured. If you have an accident on your bike, the insurance company might use that as an excuse to not pay.

For the price of a phone call, phone your bike insurance company and talk to them!

  2. no, you'll be ok, don't bother only complicate matters, they wouldn't be worried, why would it make any difference if own a bike ?

  3. In the UK and many other countries insurers subscribe to databases where they exchange all sorts of information.

One of the main things they consult is the claims database. If the accident on your partners car was declared to her insurer and you were named as the driver at the time then that information will be available.

Your bike insurer will normally only consult it if you're involved with a claim involving them. When they find out that you've lied  (or simply failed to disclose a fact which might interest the underwriters) they'll refuse to honour your policy and you could face prosecution for being uninsured. You could also end up with a criminal record.

It's not worth it. Declare the incident to your bike insurer, if it's a straightforward accident it's unlikely to affect your premium by much unless you have a long history of claims.

  4. I think the insurance policy application forms ask if any claim has been made against you. If you have not told your insurer that the claim was made on someone else's policy they may use this to not pay out if you have an accident on your bike, the b*^*%A$DS are always looking for a reason.to keep our money.

Best to tell them and then you know you will be covered.
