Question:

Insurance question about someone else destroying my car,..?

I want to know if I will be fully covered even if I just have liability insurance if one of these scenarios happens. They are fictional, but I want to know if I'd be fully compensated in real life if they all happened in the exact same situations. Otherwise, why the God-da@n blue h**l should I waste my God-dam@ money like that if I won't be compensated?

Example 1) In the movie "Walking Tall", The Rock lets Johnny Knoxville tear up this guy's shiny, new-looking red pick-up truck and lets him cut all the parts off down to the frame with power tools to look for drugs. Will he be fully compensated when it's over?

Example 2) In the movie "Judge Dredd", when this guy has too many unpaid parking tickets, Dredd just blows up the d**n car. And it looked like a pretty d**n expensive car to!!!!

Example 3) In the movie "Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift", that cop in the beginning of the movie orders to have that kid's car crushed and tells him by the time it's too late. It was after the race when he and that other kid caused damage to housing construction.

GIVE ME HONEST ANSWERS HERE, BECAUSE IF I WORK MY AS@ OFF TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE A $50,000 CAR ALL AT ONCE, I DON'T WANT TO WASTE MY MONEY IF I WON'T BE FULLY COMPENSATED!!!!!!!!!

  1. Typical situation you have like many other people, therefor,be patient and check out the resource here i found useful.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/ca...

  2. EX1: the police dept will compensate you for the damage

Ex2: if the police action was legal, then NO BODY pays for it but you.

Ex3: again if the police action as legal, then nobody pays but you.

You keep bringing up police actions.  They are legally allowed to confiscate your car in certain conditions.  In that case your insurance will not cover anything.  The point is that you should NOT be doing illegal stuff (like carry drugs, not pay tickets, etc.)

You are worrying about nothing. I've been driving since 1981.  And nobody I know had those done to them.  That is why they are in MOVIES.

    Good luck...

    P.S. >> I just have liability insurance

That would NEVER cover your car.  That only covers OTHER cars from your actions (your liability).

  3. You watch too many movies. "In the Jetsons movie, George's car flies. Why can't my car fly?"

  4. With only liability insurance you wouldn't be compensated in any of your "examples".  You would be if you bought comprehensive.  If I had a $50,000.00 car, I would never just have liability on it.  I would have it fully insured.  Why wouldn't you?

  5. Liability insurance covers YOU and the OTHER driver, not your vehicle. You need compensation insurance, which if you had a 50,000 dollar car, you would have a loan, and the bank makes comp ins. mandatory!! So, insurance would cover any damage to your vehicle. Now in the above situations, your insurance company would "go after" the other persons insurance (Subrogate) to get the money back after they gave you a check for the total they feel you are owed. PD departments hard to get money from, the others, you would file a statement with local pd, submit your claim and an adjustor would come out, look at the peices, and as long as you were not held liable, give you a check. Peice of advice, don't do what you describe in those movies!!!

  6. Liability only does not cover damage to your car. It only pays for other peoples property that your negligence causes damage -- you become legally liable for their damage. You can't be liable to yourself.

So -- if you worked hard enough to purchase a 50000 car out right - get "full coverage" and insure it with liability AND collision/comprehensive coverage.

    1. Allowing someone to deliberately vandalize your car is not covered. Intentional damage is excluded.

    2. explosion is a covered peril.Again, depends on if you did it or were involved in the action. Good news is, no one is going to blow up a car b/c of unpaid parking tickets. So, you don't have to worry about that one.  They will, however, boot it. And your insurance policy does not pay to get the boot removed.

    3. Government confiscation of a vehicle is not covered. If the cops seize a car - they don't crush it. They sell it and use the money help fund anti-drug efforts.

Movie's are fictional. They take a lot of artistic license.

No insurance policy is going to cover ever possible situation.

  7. Liability insurance pays for damages you do to other people, and their property.  It doesn't pay dime one for damage to your own vehicles.  It is never a waste of money to buy as much liability as possible.

If you buy a $50,000 car (LOL!! with that language I don't think you are old enough to have that kind of cash) you buy full cover, that means collision/upset, comprehensive, uninsured/underinsured motorist cover, loss of use cover, and, as I said, as much liability as you can afford.
