Is it possible to get insurance for an operation overseas? I am interested in getting something done in Germany ... it's not a life threatening thing or anything. If you have any advice on USA then that too would be great thanks. (I live in Australia)

  1. Check with your insurance company to see if they cover the operation that you are considering.  Then, check out the health/operation opportunities currently offered in India and Thailand.  They are top quality and inexpensive.  And, many of their doctors have been trained in the US.  In fact, some US insurers and companies are promoting operations in Asia due to their quality and lower expense.   Jack

  2. Why would you go to another country if it wasnt life threatning? Know that insurances dont cover anything remotely close to cosmetic.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield has an internationl system called BlueCard. For example if you have a PPO in the USA thru the local BCBS and you need medical help in europe as long as you see a european provider who is participating with their local BCBS plan then it will be honored as in-network where they will still take write-offs etc.
