And I'm breastfeeding/pumping. :( I do NOT want to get pregnant in the next few years, but I don't want to consider sterilization yet. What can I do??? I'm married, so condoms aren't too attractive for me.

  1. Get on some form of birth control!

  2. well considering the cost of the IUD compared to if you were to get pregnant again soon,  weigh them.   Also compare the price of them , good for 10 years, compared to other forms of birth control.

IUD's are a great non-hormone way of birth control.  I thank the IUD God's  for 12 years of happy s*x.

  3. Do not believe that you can not get pregnant while breastfeeding, that is completely inaccurate info....you absolutely can and will. I had an IUD and it was absolutely the best...no pills to remember, effective and safe. Save the money yourself, it is an investment but it is worth it! While saving consider asking your doctor to put you on a low dose horomone pill that is safe for breastfeeding mothers and easy to ween from once you have enough for your IUD. DO NOT HAVE unprotected s*x in the meantime...I speak from experience you will have two children in diapers at once!!!!!

  4. Both Paragard (the copper IUD) and Mirena (the hormonal IUD) have monthly payment plans for patients whose insurance doesn't cover IUDs. It's about $30-$40/month. They have more information on their respective sites. Some family planning clinics also charge on a sliding scale, so you should probably ask around. Talk to your doctor and schedule the IUD insertion during a regular check up- that way you'll only have to pay the fee for the insertion, not for the exam.

  5. Talk to you OB/GYN...i'm sure you'd love to hear about the fact that when you are breast feeding....you are very unlikely get pregnant!
