Intan Dwi Jayanti reserves her right to be in Women’s Singles semi-finals – Bali Open Update
Indonesia’s budding shuttler Intan Dwi Jayanti continued with her to form and cleared the quarter-final round of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open on Thursday, November 8, 2012.
She stamped Sheren Regina Natsir by registering an impressive result of 21-12 and 21-13 in a 20-minute encounter.
This Women’s Singles tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Denpasar and both contenders entertained the crowd with a splendid show of skills.
However, Intan Dwi displayed superior finishing skills and locked the honour with a straight-set victory.
She established a strong grip over the game in no time and maintained that upper hand until last shot was played.
In the opening set, she unleashed a series of productive strokes and placed a mountainous figure of seven.
Intan Dwi did not lose focus and doubled the lead by putting a convincing margin of 11 before the interval.
Later part of the game was also dominated by the higher ranked Indonesian campaigner as she did not give her rival even a single chance to proceed.
Her attack was a fine blend of power packed smashes and deceiving drop net shots which ultimately fetched valuable points.
At first, she widened the gap by prevailing in some back-to-back rallies and then left her competitor far behind with 21-12 score on the board.
This first set loss proved the final blow for Sheren Regina as she could not rise from the dust also in the second game.
The things started becoming worse when she got dazzled immediately in the establishing rallies and allowed the opposing shuttler to establish an early advantage.
Intan Dwi, who is second seeded player of this tournament, did not miss this opportunity and made best out of her challenger’s blunders.
She started the beating after 4-2 and finished first half of the set with an indomitable total of 11. She showed consistency in her performance even after the one-minute break and tipped the scale in her favour with a staggering knock of 21-13.
This win took her into the semi-final round where she will test her skills against another Indonesian shuttler Putri Sekartaji P.
