and itss like blank times blank equals -36

and blank plus blank = -9

the blanks has to be the same number

A positive number times a negative number equals a negative number.

In your questions, if you take away the negative sign, it would be asking for the square root of the number; that is, a number times itself equals the answer. So, the square root of 36 is 6 and the squre root of 9 is 3 (I'm assuming you mean blank TIMES blank is -9).

To make that negative, simply make one of the 6's and one of the 3's negative.

So your answer is 6 x -6 = -36 and 3 x -3 = -9.
