Integrated network error

Question

i recently picked up a year 2000 computer but when i plug a network cord in the integrated network port nothing lights up and the computer says cord unplugged. its not the cord because the same cord works with other computers and the cord plugs into our modem. what could be wrong?

One of these problemss:

1.  There is no real network card inside the pc for that port.

2.  There is a driver problem with that network card, do you see any problems in Device Manager?

3.  The device is faulty and no longer works.
