Intense workout regime paying off for Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban -NHL Update
For Montreal Canadiens rising defenseman, P.K. Subban has been giving it all to his offseason training regime in order to emerge even better during the upcoming 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
Subban knows that his franchise needs him now more than ever and training himself to the full extent is what the native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has been doing ever since Montreal Canadiens ended as one of the worst teams in the previous season.
Canadiens are one of the most well known teams in the world of sports and not being able to make the playoffs with their vast history of Stanley Cup championships just makes this current squad look incapable of up keeping the Montreal name.
A rigorous diet routine and intense workout plans have turned P.K. Subban’s life totally around and changed everything he stood for prior to the offseason.
"I eat a lot of protein -- steak in the morning, steak in the afternoon, fish, chicken," Subban told NHL.com. "At the start of the summer I order a whole cow from a grain-fed farm."
Clance Laylor, Subban’s personal trainer, has come to know that grain, wheat and dairy products are not helping the player in eliminating excess fat from his body, eventually making him slower and an underperformer. In order to eliminate all the non-needed
weight of his body, a new diet plan has been followed by the player for quite some time now.
"He doesn't tolerate carbs very well; meaning he eats carbs and he gets fat," Laylor told NHL.com. "It's pretty much meat and vegetables, healthy fats, and that's what really helps P.K. get rid of the excess fat. As the phases go on, we start to implement
good carbs into his diet, good starches. Still no wheat and no grains, but we like good starches like yams. There are no breads, no pastas."
With one of the best trainers on board, P.K. Subban can rest assured that next season will be definitely a breakthrough for him in all regards as the young defenders looks towards being known as a leader on the club instead of just being one that has his
own contribution and nothing else.
