Ernesto Polillo the CEO of the Italian club Internazionale has confirmed that they are not going to replace the Spanish Coach any time soon and for the time being Rafael Banitez has the support of the board.
Rafael Benitez is fifty years old and a retired Spanish footballer that has played in clubs like Castilla FC, Parla and Linares in the Spanish La Liga from 1974 to 1986.
He started his team management career with Real Madrid Castilla Youth B team in 1986 and has gone through numerous clubs since then. The highlight of the teams managed includes names like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Valencia and now
Internazionale.
He took Liverpool to their UEFA Champions League victory, gave them three FA Cups but was never able to win the English Premier League.
Internazionale’s club board members have their hopes with Rafa Benitez for the time being, this trust was secured with their latest Champions League win against Twente, when the team won the match 1-0.
The CEO of Internazionale commented on their team manager in a press conference by saying that there have never been any problems with the Spanish manager and there are no indications that there will be any in the future.
Esteban Cambiasso netted a goal in the last match and has confirmed the club’s spot in the last sixteen of the tournament and some critics even believe that this is the goal that has confirmed the Spaniards stay with the club.
But the fact remains that if they club starts performing at a low average or at a level that makes both the fans and the board unhappy then this decision can change in the future.
The CEO Paolillo also added by saying that there was a lot of tension in the club right now as the club is going through a tough time but all of that is hoped to change really soon.
In the end he concluded in the interview that the club demands results from the Manager and the Spanish Coach has been coming through for them, even if it is not the manner that they would prefer, results are results so for the
time being they are content with Benitez.
