Inter Milan 4-3 vs. Tottenham: Inter on top in goal-fest; Gareth Bale completes hat-trick for Spurs
A game that saw seven goals get scored in it, ended with Inter Milan coming out on top at the end of the night. The four goals that were scored in the opening minutes of the game proved to be more than enough to see Inter through
the game, despite Tottenham Hotspur trying to get back into it later on.
Inter Milan were looking to give Tottenham one of their worst defeats in the team’s history, as they went on to race to the four nil mark in just the opening twenty-five minutes. However, three wonderful strikes from
Gareth Bale in the second half of the game saw Tottenham salvage some respect.
Inter Milan got things rolling on the night when Javier Zanetti scored the opening goal of the game just two minutes into the match. After a brilliant team effort, Samuel Eto'o managed to find the run of Zanetti and lay off a ball
from him. Zanetti then managed to race onto the loose ball and curl it into the top corner.
The next goal came on the eleventh minute mark via a penalty. Heurelho Gomes was shown a straight red for a collision with Eto’o and the resulting penalty was then converted with ease by the Cameroonian international.
After another brilliant team move by the Italian side, they found themselves three goals up in the fourteenth minute. After some intricate passing by the team, Dejan Stankovic managed to step in and convert the build up into a
goal with a shot from near the penalty area.
Inter then scored their fourth goal in the thirty-sixth minute via Eto’o. The player latched onto a brilliant through ball and then went on to pass the ball beyond the onrushing keeper.
The game seemed over for Tottenham, but in the fifty-second minute, they pulled a goal back via Gareth Bale. The player received the ball near the halfway line and then went on to skip past a number of Inter players before finally
slotting the ball into the back of the Inter net with precision.
Despite that goal from the winger, the game looked over as it is. However, in the ninetieth minute when Bale got his second goal, it looked like a surprise might be in store. Bale then went on to score another goal in the first
minute of injury time and all of a sudden a game that looked to be over in the first half, was now back on in the last few minutes of the game. Nonetheless, Tottenham and Bale just couldn't find a fourth goal and the referee signaled the end of the game, which
resulted in Inter winning by four goals to three.
