http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan: Massimo Moratti confirms Leonardo’s exit to Paris Saint-Germain – Serie A Update
Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti, has confirmed that the tactician Leonardo http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 suggested the possibility of the
event to happen but the Nerazzurri President had dismissed such rumours.
The former AC Milan tactician is now on his way to join the French Ligue 1 outfit, Paris Saint-Germain, as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director. The move will be finalized in the next 24 hours and the hunt for his replacement has already been underway as Moratti is looking
to lure the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 international team coach, Marcelo Bielsa.
Moratti, while talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, confirmed the news of Leonardo’s departure as the former Brazilian midfielder wants to pursue his ambitions rather than forcing himself in being a tactician. The Serpent’s President said:
"Leonardo has a great opportunity. We'll try to find a solution which suits him and the club. Leonardo worked as a Coach with good will and passion, but being a Coach was certainly not what he aspired to be in the future. It makes sense that he follows his
ambitions and that we look for a new Coach. Then should Leonardo change his mind then we could change ours too.”
The Italian news agency also disclosed the President’s statement regarding the former Argentinean defender, which reveals that Bielsa is the prime candidate for the vacancy. Bielsa has managed the likes of Newell’s Old Boys, Club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Atlas-c38538, and also the international
teams for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 and Chile.
“I do believe that there has been a first contact with Bielsa, even if that wasn’t made by me,” concluded Moratti.
Leonardo took over the coaching reigns at Inter on the Christmas Eve of the 2010/11 season. The Brazilian replaced the sacked http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rafael-c30339 Benitez and produced a dramatic turnaround in the club’s fortunes to give them the Scudetto hopes. However, after falling
out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and losing the Derby della Madonnina, the Brazilian was in the middle of criticism and was blamed for the downfall. In such a situation, it was reckoned that Leonardo won’t be staying at San Siro in the upcoming
2011/12 term.
