Inter Milan captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Zanetti-c18096 wants Leonardo to remain in charge of the club
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan skipper Javier Zanetti has come out in support of manager Leonardo and stated that he wants the Brazilian to remain in charge of the club.
Zanetti said that the former AC Milan manager has changed the side for the better since the departure of Rafael Benitez and the team has faith in him.
Leonardo made a controversial managerial move to Inter Milan in December 2010 after Rafael Benitez left the club following a string of poor results. The Brazilian brought the club back in contention of the Serie A title but heavy defeats to former employers
AC Milan and Schalke 04 have put his position in danger.
Zanetti claimed that the manager still has faith in his players and the team is united under him. He believes Leonardo is the right choice to take Inter forward and two matches cannot decide the Brazilian’s fate as he has worked very hard for the team.
“Leonardo still has faith in us and we're confident he's the right man for this team. He's an extraordinary man in every sense. He's a real man,” the veteran was quoted as saying.
The 37-year-old added that he has known Leonardo from the time he was a Milan player and rated him a thorough professional. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international insisted that Leonardo has changed the team’s mentality and inspired the side back to winning ways. Zanetti
revealed that the players are very happy under the coach and the club should stick with him.
“I've known him for more than ten years now and he's a good guy. We're a completely different Inter since he took over and I really think we should stick with him. Everybody's feeling really well under him,” Zanetti concluded.
Inter Milan are currently third in the Serie A standings with 60 points behind leaders AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 with seven games still to play.
The Nerazzurri suffered a crushing 5-2 defeat at the hands of German side Schalke in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final at San Siro. If they cannot produce something extraordinary in the second leg of the fixture, their hopes of defending
their title are seriously in doubt.
