Inter Milan manager Claudio Ranieri happy with progression in Champions League
Inter Milan boss, Claudio Ranieri, believes that his men started on a low against Trabzonspor in the UEFA Champions League, but ended the clash on a higher note.
The Nerazzurri visited the Turkish outfit in the 2nd leg of the group stage tie and held the hosts to a 1-1 draw, confirming their advancement to the next round of the European championship.
Gian Piero Gasperini, the former boss, had led the side against the Turks in the first leg at San Siro, where the UCL debutants stunned the Nerazzurri with a 0-1 result.
However, the newly appointed boss believes that the 1-1 draw in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 is a good result as it also brought qualification to the next round.
The tactician was talking to the media after the game where he said:
“We must remember that, precisely because we lost against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trabzonspor-c40759, this team started with a handicap, but instead we ended on a high. anyway and was fired up.”
Ranieri believes it was a tough game as being at the Turks home ground, it was a difficult game to extract satisfactory results.
“It’s never easy to earn a result in these stadiums. I doubly compliment the lads because they deserved this qualification, especially away from home. I am satisfied, as it was a good performance and the draw was the right result,” concluded the tactician.
Furthermore, the tactician hailed Ricky Alvarez as a talented and hardworking player. The attacking midfielder was a part of the starting XI and scored the goal for the Nerazzurri.
Qualification to the next round of the Champions League was much needed by the Serpent and the coach was glad to have earned it.
