Inter Milan offer Fabio Capello manager's job at San Siro
Media reports have claimed a surprising development in the ranks of Nerazzurri. The latest from San Siro has revealed that Inter Milan officials have approached the manager of England Fabio Capello for the managerial job at San Siro.
Reliable sources have passed it on that talks occurred between Italian coach of the Three Lions and Inter Milan. This should alert the present manager of Inter Milan Rafael Benitez that he is under extreme heat.
The scrutiny of 50-year-old Spaniard has been in process for some time now by the President of Inter Milan, Massimo Morrati himself, but this latest development of blatantly approaching the manager of England is sure to have its repercussions.
With a defeat against German outfit Werder Bremen in the Champions League by three goals to nil, ‘betrayed’ were the words Moratti used to describe the performance of Benitez.
Before the match, Moratti had announced that Benitez had 24 hours to straighten out his act and present a team that was worthy of its glamour and fame from last season.
Capello is not the only man amidst rumours to be joining the Blue and Blacks. Former Brazilian manager of AC Milan Leonardo has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan. However, both these men have issues in making a move to the Italian Giants.
Well for one thing both have managed Inter Milan’s rivals AC Milan in the past and therefore their allegiance would be in question. Capello’s case would be more complicated however as the aging manager has committed Football Association (FA) to coach England
till Euro 2012.
Therefore, it seems that Benitez still has sand left in the hour glass to prove his worth to the club. The Spaniard has hit rock bottom after poorly managing a financial crisis stricken Liverpool FC and now is unfortunate again as eight players from Nerazzuri’s
first team are injured.
Nonetheless, it is Benitez’s job to manage the club therefore one can state he could have done better. It can be assessed that Benitez faltered in utilizing the talent present in the club when his featured players were unavailable.
It has also been revealed that Inter Milan’s President Massimo Moratti has handed Benitez time till the FIFA Club World Cup to show his worth to the club. On the other hand, sources have also informed that Moratti is ready to hand over reins of Nerazzuri to
Capello ever since England was knocked out of FIFA 2010 World Cup.
It is no secret that Moratti has been an admirer of Capello for a long time. It will therefore be no surprise if Moratti expects Capello to join the other part of San Siro and sky rocket the club back to its former glory.
The Inter Milan board are certainly considering Capello but there are a couple of other names too that have leaked out as candidates for managing at Inter Milan. They include Diego Simeone, Walter Zenga, Pep Guardiola and Leonardo.
Moratti has nonetheless stated that if Benitez is able to find form with the club before the Club World Cup he will undoubtly continue with his duties at San Siro. He also said that his decision will not be rash and will be made after thorough assessment.
In a press release, Moratti stated on the issue, “Benitez must show all of his character, or we will not win anything. I feel betrayed by a team who has lost too many games.”
