Inter Milan interested in Gareth Bale and Glenn Johnson Fernando Torres agent hints Premier League Switch
Inter Milan are interested in signing Premier League stars Gareth Bale and Glenn Johnson, should Maicon leave for Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho, former Inter Milan coach, joined Real Madrid after driving Inter to three trophies, including the UEFA Champions league. He joined Real Madrid as he aims to complete a “Grand Slam of leagues” as he has already won titles in England, Portugal and Italy. Mourinho has a habit of bringing some set amount of players to where ever he goes, and Maicon is certainly one of the key players he wishes to add to the Bernabeu. It is reported that Mourinho is convincing Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, to sign the Brazilian left back, for a reported €35 million. Maicon is also interested in the move, and Inter will not find a more profitable time to sell him.
Once the deal is done, new Inter Milan manager, Rafa Benitez is likely to raid the Premier League. Rafa has been an admirer of Johnson as he signed him for 20.5 million Euros last year to Liverpool, and will want to add him to the right of his defence. Johnson is one of those few players in the English squad who have impressed in the World Cup.
Inter Milan’s sporting director has also expressed his wish to adding Tottenham Hotspur star, Gareth Bale. Bale burst onto the scene in the second half of the season, where he made some impressive runs and scored some important goals for the Spurs. Spurs have rated Bale for at least 20 Million Euros, and want to keep him as they play Champions League Football this season. Inter Milan Chief Massimo Moratti confirmed on Saturday that he is indeed on a lookout for signing a left back, as Davide Santon was injured most of the season.
In other news, Spanish striker Fernando Torres is likely to switch to another Premier League club. According to his agent, Jose Antonio Martin, Torres is hinting a move to another club, following Liverpool’s disappointing season in the Premier League. Liverpool finished second in the 08/09 season, and lost just one match in the season. But in the 09/10 season, Liverpool never looked like the 18 times champions and underperformed. Their key players, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres were injured mostly, and without them, they won very few matches. They were knocked out in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, and then lost in the quarter finals of the Europa League. They finished seventh in the league, which was humiliating considering that Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester City finished above them. The fallout saw their coach Rafa Benitez leave the club, and was later appointed by Inter Milan. Roy Hodgson took over the reins and Liverpool now aims to at least secure a Champions League spot.
Owing to the disappointing season, Torres has hugely been linked for an exit from Liverpool, with Chelsea being the fore-runners to sign the Spaniard. Martin agreed to the fact that Torres will most likely stay in the Premier League, but it may not be with Liverpool. Barcelona have also been strongly linked with the striker, but Martin completely ruled out a Camp Nou switch. He argued that Barcelona have already signed David Villa, and may just be over spending. He however stated that Torres is for the time being fully concentrating on the World Cup, as his team is to meet heavy weights Germany in the semi final. He admitted that he has not had a chat with Torres for some time now, and is likely to negotiate with Liverpool after the World Cup.
According to the Liverpool striker,” "My future is here at the World Cup. South Africa is too important to think about anything else. I am sure I will talk with the new manager soon but I have a very important week here”. Fernando Torres is yet to score a goal in the tournament despite being fully fit and playing every game for his side so far in the World Cup.
