Inter Milan’s Andrea Ranocchia welcomes Gasperini and hails departing Leonardo – Serie A Update

last Friday when the outfit officially announced his appointment.

It was due to the inconsistent performances of the men in the black and blue jersey during the ending of the last term. Leonardo was highly criticized
for the shortcomings of the team and it was very likely that the tactician would leave.

on a two-year deal.
Ranocchia, who has played under Gasperini during his time in Genoa, believes that the 53-year-old is the appointment. While talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender said:
"For personality and work-rate, Gasperini is like Juventus coach Antonio Conte. He works on videos when it comes to preparing for games, but he does not cause a scene. He tells you off in private, but if he feels there is a need he will hang you on a wall.”
Ranocchia, then, showed his admiration for the departing Leonardo and hailed him as a great motivator.
"I still don't understand the reasons for his departure. I owe him a lot as he trusted me, even though I had just come back from a long-term injury,” concluded the centre-back.
Ranocchia has been one of the best defenders in the Italian Serie A and 2010/11 was a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old Italian. It was due to Leonardo that he got the chance to prove himself and emerged as a great future prospect for the Nerazzurri.
