Inter Milan’s Leonardo, disappointed with his teams loss to Juventus
Inter Milan coach, Leonardo Araújo, expressed his disappointment at the loss to Juventus in Sunday’s Serie A game at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino. The defeat means AC Milan retain their eight point lead over the current Italian champions.
Alessandro Marti’s goal in the first half proved to be the winner, as a combination of dogged defending by Juventus and Inter’s own wastefulness ultimately resulted in the Nerrazzuri leaving empty handed.
Inter manager, Leonardo, was understandably downbeat after the match, especially after he saw his side dominate long stretches of the match. However, he gave credit to the home side for a superb defensive display. He said, “We struggled to create the action
in the first-half. Juventus played a great match, being compact when it could, making it hard for us to get past their defence. In the second-half, we did very well.” He went on to add, "We were almost the whole half in attack, but Juve defended well, and
looked to be dangerous when on the counterattack."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 had a number of opportunities to tie the game but Samuel Eto’o failed to take his chances, ensuring that the Italian champions walked away from the Stadio Olimpico di Torino with nothing to show for their efforts. However, Leonardo refused to blame
his star striker for the defeat. The Brazilian coach said, “It was not Eto'o's fault. The strikers did well, but it was the movement of the ball by the rest of the team that was quite slow. I expected a tough Juventus side. The team is returning to some form."
Despite the setback, Leonardo claims he will field the same squad when Inter face Fiorentina on Wednesday, 16 February. Leonardo cannot be blamed for wanting to keep the same side because the current line-up has been getting results prior to the game against
Juventus. Leonardo considers this defeat to be a minor blip in Inter’s stellar form this year.
With the loss to Juve, the reigning champions find their title under real threat, with bitter rivals AC Milan now eight points ahead of them in the race for the Serie A championship. The Nerrazzuri have a good chance to cut the lead when they play Fiorentina
on Wednesday.
