Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli to choose Manchester City over Manchester United
Mario Balotelli has enrolled himself among the most hated men by AC Milan and Inter Milan fans. One reason for AC Milan to hate the man will be the player’s spectacular performance for Inter Milan who happen to be AC Milan’s bitter rivals and the second reason for Inter Milan to hate Balotelli is that despite claims that the player will be staying at San Siro this season it has become apparent that he will be leaving them to join Manchester City after he refused the offer presented by the manager of Manchester United Sir Alex Ferguson.
Actually Balotelli has refused a larger salary than he is going to receive at Manchester United. This refusal will cause deeper rifts between the two teams of Manchester. Old Trafford in reality was offering him an opportunity to become a legend and turn in to gold. However, the new rejuvenation at Manchester City camps have a high probability of winning the title this season too, with their smart manager Roberto Mancini planning for them and the rich Sheikh Mansour backing them with all his financial power .
Ferguson was trying hard to obtain the young 19 year old striker from Inter Milan. He went as far as saying that the young man had a lot of talent and he could turn him into the next Cristiano Ronaldo if he opts for Old Trafford. The salary he was offering him was 65,000 pounds a week but still it were the prospects at Manchester City that interested Balotelli. With all this going on last year’s winners Chelsea have sparked up interest in him too and they wanted to sign him but Mancini became the man who has won in the end.
With the signing of Balotelli, Mancini will have exceeded the 100 million pounds mark for spending on players this summer and the Italian manager is still going strong, revealing that he is still looking in the market to obtain world class players.
However Mancini has defied comments that the Sheikh’s money is making the task a lot easier for him. He has stated, “There is money to sign everyone, but not to pay them a lot, as some people are saying”.
One of the reasons Balotelli is heading off to Manchester City with Mancini is that the player wants to play for his old boss again. It was no secret that Balotelli did not adjust with Jose Mourinho when he was at Inter Milan. They both had a lot of ego between them. Therefore now that the Real Madrid manager Mourinho has tried to bid for his former player in a futile attempt to stop Balotelli from playing with competitors United and City the matter was dropped immediately.
Mancini happened to be the person who signed Balotelli at Inter Milan in 2006 when he was just 16 years old and when he turned 17 he gave him his first debut. Mancini clearly knew the young man’s potential when he scored twice in his second match just a few days later. He was given the nickname “Super Mario” as he played an important role in 2008 for Inter’s success having scored 7 goals in 15 appearances.
When Mancini left the young striker he was not able to adjust with the new manager Mourinho but after all their differences the star still managed 20 goals in 59 appearances at Serie A. Chelsea’s interest in the striker is rising too and they are planning to enter the bidding war and are ready to go up as high as 30 million pounds, but the issue of controlling the player remains as well as the player’s will to play for his desired club.
Mancini actually knows how to handle the prodigal Balotelli, he said, “He is one of the four or five strikers that interest us. I was the first to believe in him and I’m convinced about what he can do”.
He praised the player saying, “Mario has two qualities that suit us: his talent and his age. And I want people like him who are able to build a cycle of success at Manchester City”.
