Inter President Massimo
Moratti sacking Manager Rafael Benitez if no results by Club World Cup (Part 1)
Well, it seems like the Spaniard Rafael Benitez can settle nowhere this season having become the bookie’s favourite to win the sack race among the big club managers this season.
Media reports have confirmed the progress of this saga as they earlier confirmed the former AC Milan manager Leonardo Araujo was being considered for the Red and Blacks job in San Siro.
However, now, there are more men emerging for a managerial test other than the Brazilian in order to lead the Champions League winners from last season. Rumours are also suggesting the England manager Fabio Capello may be managing
Nerazzurri in the future, but that does not seem to be happening now.
There are couple of reasons for his stay with the Three Lions and one of the most important is the Italian’s commitment to Football Association in which he has to stay with the club till Euro 2012.
After that period, Capello himself has stated that he will retire from the post and therefore he will be available in the market. Therefore, all eyes are now on Leonardo, but there is still a twist in the story, as the Brazilian’s
allegiance is questionable.
Rafa could remain at the club; after all, he arrived from Liverpool just this season where he had become out favour after losing trust of his players. Though the manager had won a Champions League title with the club previously,
but his recent performances for the Merseyside were disappointing to say the least.
He finished at the 7th position in English Premier League last season and with growing tension between players and the management, the manager was eventually showed the exit door.
With a recent three to nil loss in the Champions League, Rafa has further embarrassed Nerazzurri, who happen to be the defending Champions. Although Inter Milan had already qualified for the Last 16 Stage, but humiliation at the
hands of the German outfit was, nonetheless, unacceptable.
His performance in the home league Serie A is not impressive either. Inter won a treble last season and as early as the season has ventured, one can make a pretty safe bet that a treble is out of hand now.
The Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti had earlier commented that he expected nothing short of a victory against Werder Bremen. Therefore, one can only imagine his surprise when he found out that his team was humiliated.
Earlier, the President had given Benitez 24 hours to get his act straight and straighten the club to be Champions so it is safe to say that Benitez is boiling under pressure now.
In his latest press release, Moratti has commented that he will make a decision about Benitez and his managerial future with the club after the club’s form of World Cup. This indeed gives the picture that Rafa has still some time
to become a favourite with his players and fans.
Nonetheless, many pundits have predicted that Benitez will be on his way out if there are more losses like this. They have even expressed that Rafa might be at San Siro until the winter break and the new manager has already been
chosen to replace him in order to bring about a change and rejuvenate the club in both Serie A and Champions League.

After the Werder Bremen loss, Moratti was extremely disappointed by Rafael Benitez. He is recorded to have said he feels ‘betrayed’. At the instant, he also collaborated that Rafa has time until the FIFA Club World Cup to show some character and earn his right
back to remain with the club.
In a press release, Moratti is quoted to have said, “I don't want to create problems before or during the World Club Cup. Afterwards we'll see. Benitez must have character because if not, we won't win the World Club Cup.”
