The former Nerazzurri manager blasts the Nerazzurri for blaming him for the club’s recent turmoil’s; faults lack of support for his failure at San Siro.
Gian Piero Gasperini replaced Leonardo as the Inter Milan manager before the start of the ongoing season. However, the tactician’s stint with the Nerazzurri lasted only five months, as he was sacked after La Beneamata failed to
register a single win in any competition under the former Genoa boss.
Claudio Ranieri was handed the charge at San Siro, but after an impressive streak of results, the Nerazzurri are heading in the same direction from where they started their season. Inter are in serious crisis, following seven defeats
in the last eight matches. Ranieri has come under increasing pressure, and fans have called for the former AS Roma boss’ sacking.
Gasperini believes that he was not responsible for Inter’s poor start. While talking to Sky Sports Italia, Gasperini said:
“It was five and a half months ago and the climate around the club has changed. There was all this talk of where Inter would be if Ranieri had been in charge from the summer, but the alibi of a bad start no longer holds up.”
The former tactician insisted that Inter’s slump has a lot to do with the environment at the club.
The former Genoa coach has revealed that he has no regrets about his decisions at La Beneamata, even if it did not lead to a happy ending.
He also talked about the lack of support during his stay at Inter Milan.
“When I arrived at Inter, I assumed that they hired me because they believed in me. I think I deserved to be supported in a different manner. Then there was the excuse of old players, but Andrea Pirlo is the same age as many of
the Inter stars and he ruins that alibi too."
Gasperini has wished his former employers good luck and is hopeful that the Nerazzurri will get back on track very soon.
