Inter join AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in the race to sign FC Porto's Fernando – Primeira Liga News
Italian giants, Inter Milan, have joined  Roma and their arch-rivals, AC Milan, in the race to sign FC Porto’s Fernando. The midfielder has been linked with several sides in Serie A and apparently the Nerazzurri have also gained an interest in him.
Former Brazilian U-20 International, Fernando, has reportedly become an excess player at FC Porto. The 24-year-old primarily plays in the centre of the pitch in a defensive role, but those duties have been handed over to Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez
in recent times.
While the Portistas loaned him to Estrela Amadora during his initial days at the club, it seems that they have tried and tested his abilities and have now decided to sell him as he is no longer needed at the helm.
Although not a regular starter with the Portuguese champions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 has a price tag of €30 million and it has warded off many potential suitors from making bids.
Juventus were among the teams interested in acquiring his services during the summer; however they were priced out of a move by Porto, who refused to lower their evaluation.
Despite the obvious financial muscle required to trigger his release clause, many other sides such as AC Milan and Roma have also expressed in securing the former Vila Nova man’s signature.
The Rossoneri although have been ruled out of a move by their director, Ariedo Braida, who insisted that his side were not monitoring the midfielder or looking to sign him in January.
"There is no interest, nor will there be any meeting with anyone about Fernando or any other Porto player," he said.
Roma, however, are in serious contention for the Selecao International and are reportedly in the driving seat, as the player himself has reiterated his desire to play in Italy.
"I know that the player wants to come http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-c14985 Branchini, was quoted as saying.
Besides the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952, Inter Milan are the remaining option for Fernando and he is likely to pick the San Siro outfit as they not only boast richer history but also challenge for honours on the domestic as well as the European front.
Although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 are quite interested in the player, they are not willing to offer €30 million for his talents and instead are hoping that Porto will agree on their €13 million proposal.
However they face stiff competition from Roma, who are also in great need of a combative midfielder, who can be relied on to provide an inspiration of quality and some steel on the pitch.
