Inter president responds to Benitez' outburst
Rafael Benitez has a knack for getting himself in trouble. Towards the end of his reign as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Hicks and George Gillett.
Ever since being appointed as manager of Inter Milan, the Spaniard has not been far from controversy. His recent rant against Inter president Massimo Moratti has once again highlighted his uneasy relationship with the club management.
The outburst came after Inter won the FIFA Club World Cup, following their 3-0 win over African side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/TP-Mazembe-c40755. In the post patch conference Benitez lashed out at the Inter president, accusing Moratti of showing favouritism towards former Inter manager
Jose Mourinho.
He said, “Last year, Moratti spent 80 million euros on five players, but this year he has spent nothing for me. I don't know why that has happened, but it has left me 100 percent disappointed. I deserve more respect.”
Benitez added that there were just a handful of possibilities for the club now. The first was to support him by buying new players in order to improve the strength of the squad. The former Liverpool manager said that the second option for the club was to
continue aimlessly like they are at the moment. Benitez described the final option as, “The third is to speak to my agent to reach an agreement if there is not this support (from the club for buying players). Simple.”
Since joining the Italian giants this summer Benitez has been under constant pressure. Inter currently sit in seventh place in the Serie A table, and look extremely unlikely to repeat last season’s heroics, when they won the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and
the Champions League titles. It seemed like Inter’s season was back on track following their victory in the FIFA Club World Cup, but Rafael Benitez’s comments have put a damper on the achievement.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 president Massimo Moratti has recently responded to his manager’s outburst, by saying, “His (Benitez’) comments are not suitable for the situation. But for now, this Inter fan is a happy man. I am not going to talk about Benitez or his future for the
moment. But clearly, this is not the moment to ask for reinforcements, and it is not something we will decide now.”
