Hi friends,

In my passport, the 'given name' points to my last name and 'surname' points to my (first) name [they've been interchanged]. It has been around 1 year since I got my passport. Does anyone know the procedure to get them interchanged?

Thanks,

Srini

  1. Please visit: http://passport.gov.in and check for details

  2. go to the regional passport office and u will find many broker's waiting try thru them

  3. Never !

  4. Since you are holding this passport for the last one year & want to complaint regarding this wrong information now. This whole issue will not hold well even if you talk to the regional passport officer from where this passport was issued. The best this RPO will tell you to get this name changed by getting two newspapers publication regarding this mistake or the name as you want to appear in your passport, attach these newspaper cutting & along with this attach AFFIDAVIT FOR CHANGE IN NAME/DEED POLL/SWORN AFFIDAVIT attested by the notary/magistrate, pay the required fee & get a new passport or amended passport made with correct name as you want.

  5. You have to apply to passport office to get this done. They may stamp an additional information on your passport with this. You ask them to get seperation on first name and last name clarification. Take care, They are very careless people. So thuroughly check the spellings and spaces in between.

Mine was as a single line.i Applied for splitting it. They  put the splitted name in additional page but with wrong spellings!!

  6. Try it from the FAQ on Passport Act from the link below
