  1. type the text in excel>select it>right click>hyperlink>existing file or webpage> then locate the file and select it and it will link you to the word document you want. but note that if you change the location of the file which is linked it will not work.

  2. To insert a link in your Word document

    1) Right-click where you want the link to be and click on Hyperlink

    2) Under "Link to", click Existing File or Web Page

    3) In the "Look in" dropdown box, click the down arrow and select the location of your Excel file (My Documents?)

    4) Scroll down and double click on your Excel worksheet

    5) Change / edit the name of the spreadsheet in "Text to display" to the name you want displayed

    6) Click OK

To insert an icon link in your Word document

    1) Click where you want the icon to be

    2) Click on Insert > Object > Create from File tab

    3) Click Browse

    4) Select Excel file and click Insert

    5) Change / edit the file location in “File name” to the name you want displayed, but keeping the file extension (.xls)

    6) Tick “Display as icon” box

    7) Click OK

    Hope this helps
