Interest in robotics?

Question

Hopefully when I am older I would like to own a gundam. Me being a big dreamer also knows they dont exist. So I am interested in robotics to build robotic systems and hopefully that. What good robotics schools are there and are there in nyc. My grades aernt the highest , but i had a rough term last semester in college do to personal reasons that have been resolved. I can work hard so achieving something is no problem. I dont know anything about robotics or programming but I am good with computers and am sure I can learn quickly. Any tips or info ?

Let me get this straight, so you're in college, you don't know much about robotics, can't research colleges that deals with engineering, and you also want to build a Gundam "when [you're] older"?

Good  thought .

There are lot of robotics  kits are availble which can be assembled  and programmed to do  certain work.( simple programming )

This should be your starting point  to get interested and know the  system and its complexity.

Later on think yourself  to build a robot  ( e.g  to greet a visitor at your place or pick up a news paper). Get the parts from local or radio shack stores and asseble  and program . Use a simple  PC mother board  to program.

You can always learn this subject at a later date.
