I'm looking at one for sale and just curious about what you might have to say about it. in the consumer report it says the electrical, brakes, power equipment, and paint and such are really bad, but overall the car's average.

do they make a lot of after market parts for this car as well? what kind of performance and mpg and such does it get? thanks everybody!

  1. well i have had a few old ones and a couple new ones i have one now there has been no problem with any of them i have an 04 ss rite now with leather and all that jazz, it took me a long time to find the one i wanted thats why i had a few not cause they were junk the only problem i can forsee with the the paint is that chevys paint is very soft and if you wash it with an old dirty spounge you will get swirls but the same would happen with any car, dont get an 05 or above the front end is g*y lookin unless thats what your lookin for, the 04 was the best  with the styling, and comfort brakes have to b done at about 65-70k miles wich is pretty good if you ask me, the most extensive and expensive thing i had to do to any of the new ones  is flush and service the transmission and not because i had to but because my mechanic told me there was a bullitin notice on the service website about the  transmission so i took it to the dealer and it was only 200$ just watch it when your changing the oil there are 2 wiring harneses rite below the filter and if they are exposed than you will drip oil on them its nice to have somebody around to hold them for you, oh and before you buy it take a zip tie with you i hope u know what a zip tie is, open the doors on the very bottom of the door you will see little holes that go up into the door those are the drain holes stick the zip tie into them if excessive water comes out go find another monte people dont ever pay attention to those holes and all the others around the car and that why all the classics rust away

  2. if all that stuff is bad with the car, then i wouldn't buy it. and yes they do make after market parts for it. since it's a ss then the power should be pretty good.

  3. well lets see performance wise you got a (3.8 Liter 230 cubic inch V6 supercharged making 240hp & 280 ft tq at the crank so its got some nice acceleration) sharp looking decent handling, and really bro it depends on whoever bought it from whether or not they cared for it or raised h**l in it or did poor maitnence and how you care for as far as the brakes, electrical, power equipment it may be a faulty or factory errors if you got all those problems

  4. not one of chevys better cars... alot of little issues tht become a big headache.. it will never likely be a hot rod either. since they are front wheel drive and not real hih in horsepower, its not a great candidate for the hot-rod you seem to be looking for .. its v6 and some had superchargers but still not a great car..  the new impalas are better but, they are still front wheel drive.. they run hard for a 323 inch motor !  ( 5.3 ) look into the older monte's if you want a hotrod.. good luck

  5. First of all Chevrolet makes replacement parts for a minimum of 7 model years or longer if the part is used in subsequent years.  Since the 2009's are just coming out that mean that they are still making parts for the 2003's till next year, so you are safe.
