I'm 17 and though I've had a few years of jazz and hip-hop training, I have not once tried tap dance. Is it too late to learn? Is tap difficult to master?

any answers welcome!

  1. it's never to late to learn something. it may be a little hard at times but it's possible.

  2. Nope! its never too late, hence its too late to probably go pro but if you wanna go for it go ahead, you will start out easy all the crazy stuff you see people do have had years of expierence but alot isn't too difficult, most of it is a fast combination of moves but still a ton of fun! good luck!

  3. With your other dance training, you'll be able to catch on pretty quickly to tap.  Remember, it is the feet that are moving with some use of body and arms.  Some basics are: toe, heel, step, flap, brush, single time step, grapevine, etc.  So go in class, make noise, and have some fun!

  4. No it's not too late to learn. I learned tap in my 30s! Like most sorts of dancing the early stages are fairly easy, then it gets harder, and becoming a really  top class tap dancer takes years of hard work and constant practice.

Go for it! You already have rhythm and flexibility and musicality from your other dance experience, so you should do well.!
