Interesting Premier League Stats – Part 1
Bettor.com has compiled some pretty strange but interesting stats for each team in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal

Arsenal who sit only 2 points behind league leaders Chelsea have picked up only 8 points from a possible 21 against top half opposition so far this season.
Arsenal last lost 3 games in a league season, at home, in 1996/97. However, they have achieved that feat already this season with nearly 2/3rd of the season remaining.
26 of their 28 league goals have been scored from inside the box.
Aston Villa

Aston Villa has failed to come back from a losing position to salvage any points this season. 
Villa has picked up only 4 points from 7 away games. Last season it was 9 at this stage of the season. 
Last weekend Stephen Ireland attempted 27 passes in 68 minutes and his replacement and debutant Robert Pires attempted 22 passes in 22 minutes.

Birmingham City

Birmingham have had fewer shots on goal than any other team in the league this season.
They had 3 shots on goal against Chelsea, 1 was off target, 1 was blocked effort and the other one found the back of the net
The attendance at St Andrews for the Chelsea clash was less compared to Norwich v Leeds in the Championship.

Blackburn Rovers

Sam Allardyce’s men have committed more fouls than any other team in the league this season. They average a remarkable 15 per game.
Rovers defence have conceded only 5 goals in their 6 games against bottom half teams.
Blackburn beat Aston Villa, courtesy of two strikes from Pederson, while they only had 38% possession after 90 minutes at Ewood Park.

Blackpool

The seasiders have gone on to win every single game they have been leading at half time this season including the magical win at anfield.
4 of Marlon Harewood’s 5 goals in the league so far has come in the last seven minutes before half time.
Blackpool has scored more goals from outside the box than any other team in the league this season. A total of 5 strikes.

Bolton Wanderers

Johan Elmander has found the back of the net 8 times from 14 games in the league this season. The last time he managed 8 strikes, it took him a total of 55 games.
Last weekend’s 5 goal mauling of Newcastle was achieved after a wait of nearly 10 years. Last time they put 5 past against a team was back in 2001 against Leicester.
Bolton recorded a amazing 31 tackles against Newcastle at the weekend.
Chelsea

Chelsea have lost 4 times in the league this season anf no team has ever gone on to win after such a start.
Chelsea suffered back to back league defeats recently and this happened for the first time after 165 games without two consecutive defeats.
Florent Malouda created more chances in a game than any other player over the weekend – a total of 11 chances were created for his team mates.

Everton

Everton has scored 6 goals in the last ten minutes of games this season. In doing so they managed to pick 3 points only.
2 of Everton’s 16 leagues goals have been scored by recognised strikers. Leighton Baines have made 5 assists this season, 2 more than his English compatriot Ashley Cole.

Fulham

Fulham have won one once in the last 10 Premier League fixtures. It has been 11 months since Fulham beat a team from top half of the table. The last team they beat was Manchester United.
Adam Johnson has not scored a goal in his last 20 Premier league appearances.

Liverpool

Liverpool has picked up 13 points from their last 6 games which is only bettered by Manchester United’s 14 points haul
Only Manchester United and Chelsea have picked up more points at home than Liverpool in the league so far.
Dirk Kuyt’s penalty at the weekend was the third penalty struck to the centre of the goal. None of them were saved.
