Interesting Question. Does the lighting in your workplace effect your mood day to day?

Someone was talking about it in the office I work at... We had some huge fluorescent lights and everyone seemed to be a little more upset and irritated and now we changed it to softer more cozy lamps and everyone seems a little bit happier and more calm and collected. Is it possibly the lighting that changed that?

  1. Yes, that can affect your mood.

If the lighting is poor, I feel sleepy and not in the mood to do anything. This was the case sometime when I was in school. It just made me feel that way.

  2. Yes ofcourse.

I might be weird but I prefer to work in dark conditions with the lights off and maybe 1 desk light on.

  3. Yes, when I'm feeling blue, I open the blinds and let the sunshine in.  The blue sky and light do wonders for me.

  4. of course. the ergonomics people are studying this. lightning can affect ur mood and productivity

  5. Sure, it is. I know I feel better when the lighting is good- when it's bright and cozy, definitely! If it's dark then my mood gets a little more depressed, less energy, etc. Not to the point of one extreme to another, but enough that i do notice.

  6. Yes, i work in a top floor office, lots of natural light, but on dull days we use the overhead lights and it gives us all tension headaches by the end of the day, this effects our work load and how we interact with team members.

in other offices, different lights are used, such as soptlights, whcich have an even worse effect on me, getting the right levels of light and how its used can have both positive and negative effects on people.

  7. definitely, just as a stormy and dark day can produce feelings of depression, so can a bright and sunny day produce feelings of euphoria.

Undeniably, though to a lesser extent, the lights affected your workmates in a similar way

  8. definately! I work in a high rise building, but am "condemned" to the basement, or the igloo as we basement dwellers like to refer to it as....I am not a smoker, but purposely go on "smoke breaks" just so I can go outside and see natural light. If I don't, I become more and more and more displeased as the days go by. Should I have a meeting on any floor that day, it actually makes my day!

  9. The easy listening music is putting me to sleep-air conitioning so cold too.  I want to put on a sweater and close my eyes.
