Interesting Science Fiction movies?

What are some good interesting science fiction movies like the "Planet of the Apes" movies?

Starship Troopers is really good, but only the first one. The second one was really boring, and the third is so horrible that it looks like it is making fun of Starship Troopers.

Starship Troopers.

A good future war story, (against giant bugs), as well as getting into the politics of it. It follows a group of friends as they enlist to fight the aliens, and shows how much war changes them.

Good flick, great book.

Omega Man. An oldie but a goodie. Last man on Earth kind of stuff. The only guy who survives a global plague. A smarter "I Am Legend."

The Thing, classic

Gattaca is a good view on the progress of science and how it can ecipse the natural order.

Dune, will make you think

2001 A Space Odyseey is a must watch scifie kubrik work of genius.

just a few to think about oh and Blade Runner, which would be my pick of the bunch

Okay,  I have to agree with a few of the previous.....

Dune

2001 A Space Odyssey

Blade Runner  

All three of these are classics!!!

Also though.....

Ice Pirates (a wonderful comedy)

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy  ( The British version,  but the US movie is good too)

Dark Star  ( and I'd love to hear from anyone who has actually seen this, cause I doubt there's very many!)

That's  the top of my list at any rate!
