  1. the set-up of the keyboard favors left-handers. the most-often used letters are on the left side of the keyboard.

Since most people are right-handed, this was an intentional characteristic.

Back in the day of the mechanical keys that were putting the type on the paper, this slowed the typist down enough so that the keys did not jam up (at least, not as much).

or at least that is the story I remember from back in my high school days. Urban legend for the set-up? I don't know, but it makes sense to me!

  2. The longest word that can be typed with only one hand is "stewardesses."

you could also cover some other types of keyboards and teaching methods.

  3. I know that the keyboard was purposely set up to make typing slower for the typist.  Before computers or electric typewriters, the typewriters had keys and if you typed too fast the keys would get stuck in mid air.  The key board is called a QWERETY keyboard board which we all still use today.  QWERTY are the first letter which appear after the numbers row.  They have actually tried since to change the keyboard so people could type faster but it never panned out.

If you search the net, there is tons of stuff out there to read about the keyboard.  The trivia stuff is fun to read.

  4. I believe it can reduce stress. When I am stressed out and got a lot of things on my mind I just type away and it helps.
