  1. I like Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott.

  2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte- pretty much anything by the Bronte Sisters... ofcourse Pride & Prejudice if you havent alredy Read it...any history biographies- good luck

  3. I would like to recommend Oliver Twist if you haven't read it already.

  4. I totally agree with the Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice recommendations.

I would also include Christy by Catherine Marshall, Pollyanna and Pollyanna Grows Up (I can't think of the author's name at this time), Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night by Shakespeare, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, The Thornbirds, Heidi, The Secret Garden, and The Lord of the Flies (although not nearly as good as the others here).

And I don't know how it compares to classical, but the Joshua series by Joseph Girzone is always a big hit and it is very popular.  Excellent series!!
