  1. rainbows end

  2. There are plenty of interesting things to do in and around Auckland.

Day 1 You could look around the city.Start down by the wharf and look around Viaduct Basin, the Maritime museum is excellent. Go up Sky Tower for a great revolving view, then on up Queen St. Have a look in the Civic theatre - it is beautiful. You could then walk up Wellesley St to the Art Gallery, up to Albert Park( the gallery is just below it)  and the university and back down into town.

Day 2 - Get a bus pass - you can get on and off as you please. Go to Kelly Tarlton underwater world, the Auckland Museum, maybe see the Maori show here.Have a look at the glass houses they  are really nice - just below the museum, walk to the Cathedral - one new and modern the other historic, totally wooden building,  Parnell shops and back to the city.

Have a look att http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com/au... for a heap of ideas.

You could also take a ferry across to Devonport and look around - nice shops and cafes etc. A walk up North head has fantastic views, or around the base. Have a rest on the beach.

Or take a ferry to either Waiheke Island or Rangitoto Island and walk to the top or take the little train.

In two days that is more than you will manage.

  3. the most interesting place would have to be the morgue

  4. Mt. Eden , Auckland Museum , Northhead , Rangitoto...

  5. The number one place I would recommend is Tiritiri Matangi Island. It is a bird sanctuary with many endangered native birds on it, but that is not the most beutiful part about it. You can sit at the top, by the lighthouse, and have a picnic, without hearing a single car, and with a 360degree view of the beautiful blue water.

Rangitoto is a good day out, but take PLENTY of water, as it is mostly volcanic rock, heats up a lot, and there is no clean drinking water on the island.

The Hunua Falls are beatiful, and only a 30/40 minute drive out of Auckland.

You must see the West Coast beaches, with their beautiful black sands. They are wild (the sea is wild). You can walk along some of these beaches and be the only people that you see for hours. I recommend KareKare beach (*it is stunning).

The Kitekite falls are a must see. You walk to the top, where you see the falls from above, then you walk down to the bottom, and can swim (in warmer months) in the water.

Mission Bay is a popular beach (near Auckland City Central), and has many cafes and restaurants along it.

One tree hill is a nice one to walk around. Unfortunately somebody cut the tree down

As far as day time activities, you can:

    - walk over the harbour bridge

    - go to Rainbow's End (fair ground)

    - The Museum

    - One Tree Hill

  6. Highly recommend the Auckland sky tower for dinner at the restaurant called Orbit. You get a 360 degree overview of  auckland city and harbor at 328 meters high.

  7. Go to Waiheke Island.  Rent a car and drive around the island.  Stay at least one night if you can.  Visit some wineries, etc.  No shortage of things to do in Auckland. Get a book and read about it first.

  8. venture south to OTARA. breath taking
