Interesting question in magnetism.....

Question

if two current carrying wires are kept parallel to each other....so they will exert a force on each other due to their mag. fields and the two wires will start moving towards or away from each other depending on the direction of current in the two.....does it contradict the fact that a magnetic force can't do any work as its always perpendicular to the velocity of the particle and hence can't increase the kinetic energy.....?? ?
