specifically, does anyone know of an interesting topic based on the state of kerala in india?

  1. I would suggest caste system.

Please be neutral. Co's I know there is lot of bias bout caste system, which was designed to organize society, but it fell in bad hands and whole system got screwd up.

You Can also write about benefits received by lower caste people after independence and now how they are playing major role(Lobby) in election and no politicians can say anything against so called lower caste people.

But I think you are writing about kashmir. I just answered your question in other section.

    Good Luck.

  2. Its not exclusive to India, but deeply associated with it.

The epic Ramayana is deeply rooted with Hindu religion which is practised mostly in India. Now what is interesting is that you would find the same story and characters, interepreted in a different fashion in other South Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Thailand etc. Maybe you can explore the various trajectories of this famous epic.

You could also write about the Hindu weddings and how the customs vary across different regions.

Kerala is a state known mostly for its natural beauty. But its also the place from where Jews entered India and made this their home. In the city of Cochin, in Kerela, you would find a small place called Jew Town which was inhabited by Jews. It was quite an interesting place :)

    Good luck for your paper!

  3. kerala is a vegetable in Hindi. lol a spiky green one.

you could write about the devide and violence in kashmire. which is currently being fought over by india pakistan and china. and the plight of the people?

  4. Love history in India

  5. Why not working on 'VEGETERIAN FOOD', SAFEST FOR EVERY-BODY..............

  6. Something a little more up to date would be the terrible food processing process that India has in place.  It is said that India would be able to feed itself if they could be much more efficient.  The latest on this is that Walmart (of all companies) is trying to get in to streamline all of India's food processing and handling prcedures.  I think it is an interesting topic in quite a few ways and will be interesting to see what happens.  Im sure a little research will turn up a bunch of info on this topic.  Originally I heard an in depth report on cbc radio.  You could try to find it on cbc.ca and try some of the radio links on that site.

    Good luck.

  7. hmm dunno about kerala

i did an examination of how well British did Imperialism in India a few years ago.

  8. You might want to write about Bollywood / its actors. Or maybe about how modern technology has swept through india and how it affects the world.

  9. ""How India survives as a country inspite of having so many diversities"

  10. You can try quite a few topics:

Democracy in India - Political parties, government

    Government Projects in India

    Hindu Marriage Act

    Indian weddings

    Real Estate Boom in Metros

    Indian Movies

    Indian Languages

    Farming in India

Roads in India - Traffic system

A paper on law enforcement system in India - Police

    Communal Violence

    Emerging of Hi-Tech cities

    Indian Stock Market

Reliance group of Industries - Future of India

    Raising Rupee

    Auction of cricket player sponsorships

.... and the list goes on

  11. In my view, the most hottest topic for today in India is Economic Boom of India, the Developement in its infrastructure, BPO Sectors, The Influence of India on Western Country like USA,UK,Canada, Australia, etc. The Famous Millonaries of Indian settled above like Lakshmi Mittal,Reliance,TATA,Birla and Many more. The Economy of India is Growing day by day and it is the most hot topic right now.

  12. A friend told me that a small regional conflict broke out in the 1950's that split a prominent family. The conflict arose because the younger members objected to having to partake of the durian fruit at a family gathering during a "festival of lights"?.

You might also explore the accuracy of events portrayed in Indian cinema or Baliwood. The Indians I know are quite proud of reenacting history and adapting stories with all the rich trappings you see in these movies.

It seems your topics are very broad. I think you might get more out of the paper for yourself if you narrowed the research to something more specific. Maybe you could research life as an untouchable, or the evolution of curry.
