Interesting thngs about belize?

Question

does anyone know any interesting facts about Belize? i'm doing a spanish project on it, and all the stuff is pretty boring, and i wanted something cool in there, but i can't find anything. helppppp.

I spent a few weeks in Belize last year and had a wonderful time.  One of things I found interesting was the cultural and ethnic connection to Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean cultures.  The fishermen and captains who run the dive operations off the eastern coast (Long Caye, Tobacco Caye) speak a similar dialect to patois.  I posted some photos here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/dna_ersatz/...

Apart from all the changes in government i.e. since British rule, check out some facts on the activities - Belize is known for having some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world (especially in Cauye Calker) - a friend did a night dive and said it was the best one of his life.  Also, Belize is known for caving, especially around the Cayo/San Ignacio area - famous caes include ATM or Crystal Caves (which I recently went to - phenomenal!).  Also, I discovered a true passion for barbeque when I was there - amazing barbeque in Cayo.
