So my mom wants to paint our kitchen, the orginal color is like a mint green {not as bad as it sounds}, and she wants to paint it burgundy.

And i told her it doesn't go with the rest of our house which is dark brown and white.

any color ideas, i really need some advice on this.

  1. go with light yellow ,lime green or  beige  or orange.....

    .

  2. do eggplant color

  3. Kitchens should represent warmth and comfort.  Go with something neutral like an earth tone.  You could do a green or brown with green or brown undertones.

Maybe some sort of mocha-type color to go with the other browns but not be just LIKE the other browns.

    DON'T go with burgundy.

  4. You can go burgandy, but I'd paint the cabinets and trim white to help lighten the room. Go to a fabric store and find a paisley, stripe or plaid with browns, golds, burgandy in it and use it for window treatments and chair cushions. The fabric you choose for these accessory pieces will pull it toegther. Maybe you could use a complimentary fabric in the same colors for throw pillows or window treatments in adjoining rooms that are just brown and white now. That would keep the "flow' going from room to room.

  5. why dont you paint the cabinents brown ( or if its already brown) you can paint the walls a burgundy. That way the whole kitchen isnt burgundy, its not so bad all together. see??

  6. A dark pumpkin color would go good with the brown.it isn't as dark as burgundy but it also depends on the color of the cabinets.

  7. Yeah, I'd go with a rusty dark orange rather than a burgundy. More similar to brown.
