  1. I'm a 4th year interior design student at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and even though we are a small town school we have a top architecture and interior design college.  We have alumni in top firms around the county (and world)

I'd say our college differs from others in that we are very architecturally based.  The first two years (pre-interior design) are spent with the architecture students and everyone takes the same introductory classes and studios.  At the end of the second year you put together a small portfolio of what you have done over the past two years and submit it and they choose 30 students to get into the 3rd year which is officially interior design.  Then you do an internship after your third year (best experience ever).

They also have internship/carreer fairs once a year which are great opportunities.  Basically people from a bunch of firms around the country come to our building and you can sign up for whoever you want to interview with (otherwise getting an interview is the hardest part so this is an awesome help!) and you can sit and go through interviews for real careers and internships right in the comfort of your own school.

Anyways, that's my spiel.  Hope it helps.

And I know, Nebraska isn't necessarily glamorous but the interior design program is great, you get really close with all the people you go to school with...it almost becomes it's own little sorority within the school :)

    Good luck!
