Intermittent cramping in early pregnancy ?

I took a pregnancy test on tuesday- and it was positive.. (YAY!!)

I have been having cramps which last only a few seconds at a time. Have you experienced this?

They are not that severe, and go away.. I would say it happens once or twice an hour if that.

Also- what do you think of the name Theodore Francis?

  1. Cramping in pregnancy is pretty common. I would mention it to your Doctor at your next visit just so he/she is aware but I am sure they will tell you it is nothing to worry about.

If the cramping starts getting quite painful or the cramps are becoming prolonged or accompanied with bleeding then I would reccomend you go to your Hospitals Emergency Ward or speak to your Doctor immediately.

I have had slight cramping on and off since I fell pregnant. I even had slight bleeding at 12 weeks but it was very light (so scary - but I went to the ER as soon as I noticed the bleeding and they told me it was ok as very light and no cramping and it stopped within 30 mins).

If anything happens to your body that you are not familiar with then it's always best to see your Doctor or go to the ER if you feel it's serious.

  2. Is it cramping, or does it feel twingey or like a pinch?  i had minor pains, and it's just your body making changes for the baby.

  3. Congratulations but I don't like the name.  Even worse, he'll be nick named Theo or Teddy.

  4. Congrats!  I am pregnant as well and I experience the same type of cramps, the docs have told me that they are nothing to be worried about as long as they are not severe, and they go away, and if it is not accompanied by blood.

I am not a fan of that name.

  5. I'm not all that fond of the name either... sorry.

  6. Yes it can be normal. I had whats called implantation pain. It hurt a lot so I thought for sure something was wrong. My doc had an ulrasound done and everything was fine. Most likely that is what you are experiencing to, the implantation of your baby into the uterus. Make sure you make an ob appointment ASAP. The doctor should be the one to decide for sure if you are fine or not. Any cramping regardless should be taken seriously untill the doctor tells you it ok. Congrats on the new pregnancy.
