I want to use one of the internal hardrives from my old dell desktop as an external hardrive for my macbook. Is such a connection possible? If so, what cables would I need?

  1. Use a hard drive enclosure.

  2. An external enclosure would require zero cables. You just plug in the drive, and then it usually connects via USB or firewire to your computer. Something like the item below will work, but make sure you get the appropriate type, either IDE or SATA.
