Question:

Internal lock on door...?

I want to remove my old doorknobs, and replace them with doorknobs that have a lock on them. I was just wondering how to do this, or if I'd be better off contacting a locksmith.

  1. No problem to change them yourself. remove the screws if exposed on the inside of the room, if not exposed, there will be a trim excision with either a little wire keeper spring, a hole in the shaft of the k**b. Insert a pin in the hole and pull the k**b off, or just a small slot in the door edge of the excision, just pry out. If none of these, a hole through the shaft, press in, pull k**b then unscrew  the excision plate.

  2. A lot depends on the devices being removed in comparison to the devices being installed.

Best bet if you`re gonna do it yourself is remove one(hopefully just 2 screws through the device and 2 in the edge through the latch)

The ideal situation is that the door has a 2 1/8 inch bore through the face and 7/8 to an inch through the edge. If this is the case, you should have very little problem installing something "off the shelf". If not you may have to get some qualified help. Someone at the store should be able to direct you.

  3. Hi........it's very easy...........just get locksets that match yours...take one with you so you get all the sizes the same, the rest is simple........all you really need is 1or 2 screwdrivers... if you have a question email me.......very simple if you keep it simple..
