International badminton Federation
In 1893, the Badminton Association came into being. Fourteen clubs were affiliated with it .It was the need of the hour to make a central governing body of badminton. Thus, the Badminton Association decided to formulate an international organization for settling badminton issues and providing laws for its improvement. A meeting was held and as a result of the meeting, IBF was formulated.
International badminton federation is the regulatory body of the worldwide played badminton sport. This federation came into being in 1934. It’s headquarter is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. When badminton federation was formed, it had only nine member countries which were:

Denmark
France
England
Ireland
New Zealand
Wales
Netherlands
Scotland
After 2006, the name of this sports federation was changed into International World Organization which is commonly called as IWF. This name was decided in extra ordinary general meeting held in Madrid. The no of IWF’s members has increased from nine to 159 nations.
