International Cricket Council turns down the Indian Premier League window proposal – Cricket News Update
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has refused the proposal to create a window for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in its Future Tours Programme (FTP), terming the proposal to be controversial and impractical.
As the cash rich IPL sparked disputes in a number of cricketing nations of the world, it has been a hard-pressed demand by several cricketers to accommodate the annual league tournament properly in the international cricket schedule.

After keen deliberations, the ICC has turned down the proposal on the grounds that if the council creates a window for the IPL, it will have to incorporate other domestic leagues as well.
Other domestic tournaments that await windows include the KFC T20 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 Bash and Sri Lankan Premier League (SLPL).
Talking to media today, the ICC Chief Executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719, said, “Most of our Members run successful domestic T20 leagues already, so there is no reason to believe that will not continue. It is not for the ICC to schedule Member domestic leagues in
the international cricket calendar and we have never been asked to do so. In fact we have never considered this formally.”
He further elaborated, “Players are free to choose their affiliations but all sportsmen thrive on international competition and know that representing one's country is the ultimate. This will not change for the vast majority of cricketers."
During the recently concluded IPL-4 edition, two severe rifts between players and cricket boards were seen.
