International Football: Fabio Capello praises Jack Wilshere
Fabio Capello has praised Arsenal’s midfielder Jack Wilshere and outlined a new role for him in the English national team squad. England lost their last match in the international arena against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, but Capello will be looking for a better 2011 season
after England’s performances in the 2010 calendar year were forgettable to say the least.
Capello has been slowly and steadily giving starts to more youthful English players such as Andy Carroll and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463, but it remains to be seen whether this policy will resume once the qualification process for EURO 2012 continues. Wilshere’s last
appearance for England came in their win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 on February 9th, 2011. Fabio is keen to see the Englishman in action for England
after he has massively improved as a midfielder under the guidance of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
English national team’s Italian Manager might opt for Jack to star in a more withdrawn defensive midfield role; there are questions as to whether Jack has the physique to play in such a role for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but those questions remain unanswered at the moment.
Speaking about the defensive midfielder’s role in the English national team Capello stated, "Hargreaves played this position very, very well every game. But after the knee problem, he was never back.” Capello said that he tried different players in the defensive
midfield position such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423 from Manchester City but the lack of experience in that position led to a lacklustre performance in the end.
He went on to compare Jack Wilshire with Claude Makelele who previously played with Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The former A.C Milan Manager expressed his views by saying, “Wilshire is better technically than Makelele. He's slower than Makelele but when he
receives the ball he is more dangerous than Makelele. He is the best young player. He now plays all the time with Arsenal. If you play with Arsenal, you are a really good player because Arsene Wenger likes good players.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello will hope that Wilshere gets consistent first team football with Arsenal for the remainder of the season as the English Premier League title race heats up. Arsenal are also scheduled to play in the round 16 of the UEFA Champions League against
Barcelona in mid February. It will be interesting to see whether the young English midfielder gets a start in Arsenal’s next league encounter against Everton on February 1st, 2010 or not.
