International Football: Walcott out for redemption
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 has come out in bullish mood before England’s mid-week friendly encounter against Denmark.
Arsenal’s winger has made it clear that he will be out to prove his critics wrong and also to prove to Fabio Capello that he is capable of securing a first team spot in the English national team.
England are expected to be without several key big name players for the friendly against Denmark so Capello is expected to give start to the younger players of the English national team squad.
Capello will also be hoping that calendar year 2011 is a relatively better one for England as 2010 was quite an unfortunate year for the English national team.
The three lions went to the FIFA 2010 World Cup after qualifying in fantastic fashion but then failed to live up to the hype in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in the round
of sixteen stage of the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
Following the debacle in South Africa, F.A were under pressure by the British media to dismiss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello but English football’s governing body kept their faith in Fabio.
Since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, England have performed convincingly in their EURO 2012 qualifiers but they lost their last friendly encounter against the French national team by two goals to one.
It was a humiliating experience to say the least for England as French totally dominated the match and ended up as deserving winners in the end. England have had trouble over the years in international competitions.
Under Steve McLaren’s management, England failed to make it to the EURO 2008 competition.
Players such as Walcott are now being touted up as England’s future as the golden generation has reached its twilight days for the English national team.
Capello left the winger out of England’s FIFA World Cup squad in the summer of 2010 but Theo has evolved as a player since then.
The speedy winger has earned a reputation for being quick on and off the ball but his final delivery is still not up to the mark as showcased by his various outings for the English Premier League side, Arsenal.
In his latest interview, Walcott confirmed that he has actually benefitted from being left out of England’s 2010 World Cup squad. The Englishman was in a confident mood as he expressed his happiness over encouraging remarks from
the English national team manager, Fabio Capello.
Walcott is one of the favorites to start against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288.
Tottenham’s center back was a part of England’s World Cup squad as he was thrown into the mix at the last minute due to Rio Ferdinand’s injury in the summer.
England’s best hope to gain success at the international level really does lie in nurturing talents such as Walcott and Dawson.
Now would be a nice time for Capello to incorporate these talented yet inexperienced youngsters into his side but England’s lack of success has meant that the Italian is constantly under pressure to produce results.
Fabio has on certain occasions given away to this pressure as he has selected players on reputation rather than performances in the past.
England are expected to start with Jack Wilshire in a central midfield role whereas Dawson is set to take up his place in the three lions’ defense. Up front, England might opt for a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 and Jermaine Defoe combination but
other options such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358 are also available to the English national team manager.
It will be interesting to see whether Capello starts with an untested line up or whether he opts for a tried and tested combination. On the other hand, Denmark will be gunning to get a result against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 before their EURO 2012
qualification campaign resumes in March of 2011.
