International Hockey Federation: Hamburg Masters: Germany and Japan win their Matches

Germany and Japan win their Matches in the second day of Hamburg Masters, A Four Nation Hockey Tournament, played at Uhlenhoster Club, Hamburg, Germany. German beat Indians by 5 goals to 3 and Underdogs Japanese defeated Netherlands 3-2.

First match was played between Asian side Japan and the bronze medallist Netherlands. Japan started this match as underdogs but played majestic hockey to shock Dutch side. Japan ranked 16th worldwide start this match with the bang as Kenji Kitazato took an early lead in the 2nd minute of the match. Young Dutch side made an early comeback into the game when Mink Van Der Weerden converted the penalty corner into the goal in the 14th minute of the Match. Japan again took lead in the last minutes of the first half when Kazuhiro Tsubouchi scored on the penalty corner awarded to Japanese side. At the end of first half Japan was leading by 2-1.

2nd half was comparatively a slower one with both sides playing around the half line. Tomonori Ono capitalized the penalty corner awarded to Japanese side in the 47th minute of the match and doubled the lead. Dutch side’s hopes were alive when Rogier Hofman scored 2nd goal for the Dutch side in the 53rd minute of the match. Japan’s defender played good defensive hockey in the last 15 minutes of the match by avoiding some wonderful moves from the Dutch forwards. Japan deserved a victory and took 3 vital points from this match to keep their hopes alive for winning this 4 Nation Hockey Championship.

In the second match of the day Olympic Champion’s, German side defeated Indians by 5 goals to 3. This match was evenly balanced as both teams played aggressive hockey and keep attacking each other’s goal posts throughout the match. India took the initial lead in 2nd minute of the match when Sandeep’s powerful drag-flick made a body contact with a defender of German side resulted in the penalty stroke. Sandeep made no mistake in converting this chance into the first goal by Indian side. German forward Jan-Marco Montag equalized the match 9 minutes after the Indian goal. India again took a lead when Rajpal Singh scored a beautiful field goal in the 14th minute of the match. Germans soon equalized it when Florian Fuchs scored an equalizer just one minute after the Indian goal. By the end of first half match was at level both sides scored 2 goals each.

In the second half both teams passion were on the higher side and were trying to score early goal to take final lead. In the 41st minute of the match Dharamvir Singh gave India a lead third time in the match. German side again came from the back to equalize in the 50th minute of the match when Maximilian Muller scored a field goal. After this goal, German side never looked back and scored 2 more goals in 64th and 69th minute of the match, when Christopher Zeller and Moritz Furste scored. Final score line was Germany 5 and India 3.
With this loss Indian side has no chance to win this 4 Nation Hamburg Masters, Japan has remote chance to win if Netherlands beat Germany and Japan beat India by high goal margin.

Two Matches are left in the tournament in which Germany will face Netherlands and Japan will play against India.
