  1. intl law is biased to west. that entity you have in mind wont be thinking of intl law if they do retaliate.

  2. FIRST....For several reasons a pre-emptive attack by America on the Iranian nuclear facilities is HIGHLY unlikely.... Would it be "legal" by "International Law"..... what is legal or illegal often depends on who wins..... in this case I would say it would be unadvised but legal

The Dutch assessment was probably based on a misunderstanding ....America probably advised them that a nuclear strike was coming and they "assumed" we were going to conduct that strike

Actually President Bush is doing everything he can think of to STOP that nuclear attack....

Israel attacked the Syrian nuclear facilities.....Syria uses the same Russian made air defense system used by Iran ( first clue)

Israel conducted a "training exercise" to the Italian coast.....the same distance from Israel to the Iranian nuclear facilities (second clue)..... Israel has recently purchased long range bombers ( third clue)....Israel is known to have nuclear weapons.... Iranian nuclear facilities can only be destroyed by a nuclear device

Iran has openly threatened to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth"...... Israel can not allow Iran to obtain nuclear capability..... Israel can not trust President Obama (?) to support them in a pre-emptive strike.....Israel can not embarrass President McCain (?) by requesting his support in such a strike..... My guess is Israel .... if Iran does not back off the quest for a nuclear capability ......will create a "green glass glowing parking lot" in the southern Iranian desert...... before the new President takes office.

  3. It would be illegal.

There is a UN and a UN Nuclear watchdog. We just claimed Russiaattacked Georgia illegally even after what we did in Iraq, which was the same, but much worse!

  4. Yes, because why retaliate against a country that had nothing to do with the US attacking Iran's nuclear targets.  It is like I punch your brother and you go and shoot someone at Wal-Mart.

  5. It would be, because Israel did not attack Iran, but if Israel is attacked they would gladly send Iran into stone age. They would not miss this opportunity.

  6. Which targets would these actually be sophie.

If your own CIA cannot find any how come the jersualem post can.

  7. One would be just as legal or illegal as the other.  The major problem with the US is that it is largely controlled by Israel, who for the most part dictate US foreign policy.

Otherwise, it is not in the interests of the US to launch any attack on Iran, just as it was not in the interest of the US to attack Iraq.  US meddling in the affairs of other countries has gotten entirely out of control.

  8. As I person who teaches and must know international law yes, but you are dealing with Iran, so all logic goes out the window. Heck even when dealing with Israel vs. Iran. The hate is too strong and either would attack the other first if we weren't in the way stopping it.

  9. One of the things that people misunderstand about international law is that if a country or 'entity' as you put it would have to have signed some kind of treaty or agreement to be found in violation of it.

For instance if it was something that was designated as falling under International Crimial Court then only those countries who were members of the international criminal court could be tried by it.

If it was a Geneva Convention issue then only countries or entities who have agreed to abide by it could be tried under it.

So if you were talking say Palestine, well they are a non member entity of the UN, etc... so you really couldnt take them to court per se if they did.  So while people might say its illegal well if the entity doesnt subscribe or recognize to that law then what ya gonna do?

  10. The UN charter states that it is a violation of international law to attack a country that never attacked you, or threatened to attack you.  The Bush Administration is technically guilty of war crimes for attacking Iraq in a war of aggression.  Iran would have to attack first, or threaten to attack, first, or we add to the list of war crimes punishable by death at the Hague.
