International Phone Calling from UK Mobile to USA Landline?

I have an aunty in the USA who lives in New Mexico, i live in England. from about June 07 - May 08 i have been using my 3 Network Pay As You Go Mobile Phone to call my Aunt's USA landline, 3 Network had a really good deal in that you pay £15.00 for an international saver voucher and this gives you unlimited time for the 30 days (month), for no extra cost. so i used to buy this, talk to her for about an hour per day and it didnt cost me anything on-top of the £15 that i paid for the voucher.

Well, i was unable to have it for a few months from May - August and tonight i go to put £15 on my phone to buy the voucher and the voucher HAS GONE and is no longer available, 3 company said "Oh you have to have a contract now to get it", NO.

I was quite happy with the voucher, but no they had to get rid of it.

im devestated because i havent talked to my aunt for a few months, she must be worried by now we used to talk every single day...i just havent had that much money recently with this d**n credit crunch rubbish, and now i cant even buy my voucher. from the 3 network it is 25p (£0.25) per MINUTE to call the USA from my mobile, thing is, that would be £15 for AN HOUR, we used to talk for an hour per DAY...i couldnt possibly afford to do this.

other than the stupid air-mail that takes 2 weeks to get there from here, getting another phone or whatever..what can i do?

i tried looking online for an access number thing ive found but, from my network its still 25p per minute even if i use the cheaper website access number...

i just dont know what the h**l to do..

  1. Have you or you aunt heard of vonage or majic jack? Vonage is a service in the USA that i use to call my sister in London for the unlimited call to her phone every month. And well i just found a site that gives out free ring tones http://publishers.clickbooth.com/sw/4483... if this makes you feel any better

  2. Check out the site from the link below, it gives you a number of options to try that should give you some big savings. Hopefully one of them will work for you. Its a genuine reliable site (used to have a program on Ch5)

  3. A landline is not too hard to acquire.

We have BT and pay £10 per month for unlimited calls internationally.

This is great for me.  I am from Florida.  All of my family is still in Florida.  And I live in England.

The only catch to our plan is at 59 minutes I have to hang up and call them back.  Which is fine.  I really do not mind.  And with the amount of calls I make to my dad, mom, sister, grandma, nephew, cousin, and friends...it is saving us hundreds a month!
