International Phone and Plan?

I will be traveling for the next 6 months and would like to get an international phone and plan so that I can keep in touch while I am overseas. I will be in many different places on a cruise. I currently live in Toronto and have a Nokia 6086 with Rogers Wireless. Should I be getting an All-In-One or can I stay with my phone and just add a data plan or an international plan. Thoughts?

very tough question.

when I travel i take my unlocked phone, remove the Rogers SIM card and put in a local pay as you go SIM card.

I then have a new number I have to give to people but it saves me the $2-$4 per min Rogers charges.

Or I carry two phones (lol, I know eh!) I can see incoming calls on my Rogers cell and read my incoming texts but make all my outgoing calls on the other phone.

But other than making your first stop every port a convenience store to buy a local SIM, I think you have the best idea just to pay Rogers to use it lots abroad..sucks..
