International Sports on Royal Caribbean Cruises?

I know it's an odd question but I'll be cruising out of Cape Liberty in Feb 09 to the Caribbean and would like to know whether they show international sports such as the Champions League (European Soccer tournament). Thanks!

  1. Since it is a U.S. sailing probably not, unless there is a large enough contingent of people who want to see it.

If enough people bring it up to the Cruise Director, they might see if they can have broadcast pick up the satellite feed.

  2. Whenever you cruise there are generally two options for seeing sports events on TV.  First is your cabin and the second is if your ship has a sports bar.  There is no firm answer to your question.  Some cruise ship do have ESPN available in the cabin but its a c**p shoot as to what will be on.  In addition, since the ship will be moving the TV signal that it can get also dictates in part what is shown.  I have been on cruises when major sporting events, like the NFL's Superbowl and even high profile regular season games, were on TV.  But they were generally in a sports bar and not the cabin.

If you will be cruising on the Explorer of the Seas, that ship has a  Schooner Bar on deck 4 which typically has sporting events on the TV, if the piano player is not performing.  The ship also has a Sports Bar on deck 5.   That is probably the best place to go to see the soccer games.  But, again its iffy.

  3. No

You only get basic USA tv.  You can watch in Spanish on board, US soccer.
